We’ve Been Busy:
Here’s What We Have Been Up To
In our first year,
Autism Insights Foundation :
Sponsored weekly one-on-one neurodiversity career coaching for people on the spectrum with Atypical Careers
Funded a $5,000 grant to sponsor Dr. Amy-Jane Griffiths’ groundbreaking research focusing on improving outcomes for autistic job seekers
Ran an informational booth at an Autism-friendly event
Hosted a panel discussion
Started a high school club to spread awareness to the next generation of employees and employers
Started a blog to get the word out
Put out our first free training on accommodation in communication
We do all of this to help change the workplace so that autistic adults who are employable can find employment, and ultimately, more independence and success. We also do this because the world is missing out on the untapped talents that Autistic people bring. Thank you to all our supporters who have helped us to get here. We still have so much work to do, and we remain humbled in that we cannot do this impactful work without your support. Thank you for making this happen.
We are excited to be supporting Dr. Amy Jane-Griffiths’ research with our first grant and can’t wait to update you as it progresses. Dr. Griffiths is doing qualitative research to study real experiences of neurodiverse employees to find out what works and what still needs to be done.
Meet the one and only Veronica Yao of Atypical Careers. Veronica is neurodiverse herself, which is important to us, because we have selected her as our first job coach to shepherd employees on the spectrum through a supportive coaching program as they navigate their professional lives.
We hosted a panel discussion for the community at Chapman University, where our board, alongside Hollywood composer John Frizzell , held an open discussion about the benefits and challenges that come along with Autistic employment.
