Our First Fundraiser: A Labor of Love and Learning
Planning our first-ever fundraiser for Autism Insights Foundation has been an exciting and rewarding experience, but let me tell you, it’s been a lot of work! When we first decided to host this event in April, I had no idea how many moving parts were involved. From coordinating donations to organizing volunteers and everything in between, it’s been a whirlwind of learning as I go. But despite the challenges, I couldn’t be more proud of what we’re putting together.
This event is a labor of love. I truly believe in the mission of AIF—to support autistic employment through funding research and providing job coaching—and it’s been inspiring to see so many people get behind the cause. But even with all the excitement, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of planning required. There are a lot of steps to follow, and even though I’m doing my best, I’m sure there have been things I’ve missed. I’m learning from each mistake and each new challenge, and that’s the beauty of it. This event will be a huge learning experience for me, and I’m sure it will be for our board members as well.
If you’ve ever organized a fundraiser or event like this, I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to send me a private message with any tips or advice you have. I know I could use all the guidance I can get to make this a success. Thank you for your support, and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together this April!
